A 3 hour confined water class that covers all skills and knowledge as preparation for Open Water Freediving Certification

Prerequisites: at least 12 years old and the ability to swim 200 meters/yards.

Location: The Water’s Edge Aquatic Center, Bensenville, IL

What You Will Learn and Practice:

  1. Freediving theory through PADI eLearning online study.

  2. Frenzel ear equalization technique and freediving breathing patterns via live online video call.

  3. Proper handling and use of freediving equipment.

  4. Static apnea safety and performance, including training to hold your breath for at least 1 minute 30 seconds and to provide safety support for other static apnea participants.

  5. Dynamic apnea safety and performance, including training to swim a minimum of 25 meters (75 feet) underwater on a single breath and to act as a safety for others.

  6. Simulated depth dive to 10 meters (33 feet) on a single breath.

  7. Comprehensive training in freediver safety assistance and rescue techniques.

Required Equipment: Mask, snorkel, bi-fins, weight belt, and 3 lbs of weights (three 1 lb weights).
All equipment can be rented from a local scuba shop. Advance reservation is recommended.
